A Rocky Start: Green’s Relationship with Megan Fox

Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox’s relationship has been a roller coaster, with several breakups and reconciliations over the years. In their early days together, Green, who was already a father, had to navigate the challenges of blending families. “When we were first together, I already had Kass,” Green explained on the podcast, referring to his now-23-year-old son, Kassius, from his previous relationship with actress Vanessa Marcil. “So she became very responsible for his well-being and was involved in all of the legal stuff that was going on with Vanessa and I, and it’s a lot at a young age.”

Fox and Green met in 2004 on the set of Hope & Faith when Fox was just 18 years old, and Green was 30. Despite the significant age gap, the two formed a bond that eventually led to their marriage in 2010. However, Green reflected on how their relationship evolved, especially when Fox began to feel the weight of responsibility at such a young age.

“It was amazing, but it was so much responsibility,” he continued. “I think she kind of just got to a point in her life where she was like, ‘I missed out on being a kid, like, being an irresponsible kid. I jumped in at just over 18-years-old with a guy that had a 2-year-old.’ I think it became overwhelming for her.”

The First Divorce: An Unexpected Heartbreak

Green vividly recalled the emotional pain of the first time Fox wanted a divorce in 2015. At the time, the couple had two children, Noah and Bodhi. Fox’s decision to seek a divorce was devastating for Green, particularly given his own physical condition. “It killed me,” Green admitted, recalling how he was physically unable to fight for their relationship due to his ongoing recovery from an injury. “I was sick. She went to New York to do the sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I couldn’t even go with her because I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t do anything. I had to stay home and I was doing physical therapy, speech therapy and all sorts of stuff.”

Green noted that Fox’s desire for divorce came “out of nowhere,” which made the situation even more heartbreaking. “It was the most vulnerable thing I had ever experienced in my life at that time,” Green said. He also alluded to the possibility that Fox may have met someone else on set, although he explained that the relationship fizzled once she returned to Los Angeles. The couple ended up staying together and had another child, Journey, in 2016, but Green’s brief sense of peace was short-lived.

A Second Split and the Impact of Machine Gun Kelly

Despite their reconciliation, Fox ultimately filed for divorce again in 2020. By this time, Fox had publicly referred to Green as her “soulmate,” but their relationship still ended. Green explained how he processed the sudden shift and Fox’s whirlwind romance with Machine Gun Kelly. “It was a quick moving thing. It went from, like, ‘Hey, we should get a divorce.’ To all of a sudden it was like, ‘Hey, you know, my twin flame and this is my soulmate. And I manifested him,'” Green revealed.

While Green admitted to feeling jealous and hurt by the suddenness of Fox’s new relationship, he emphasized that he had come to terms with it. “Because of the health stuff I had gone through—and it was four and a half years—at the point when she approached me and then the Machine Gun Kelly stuff and everything was happening, I was genuinely in a place of … ‘I can deal with this. This is not gonna kill me.’”

Green also recalled a moment when Fox asked him to downplay her relationship with Machine Gun Kelly in public. “She called me and asked me to tell the listeners of my podcast that she and MGK were just friends,” Green revealed. “I completely caved to that ’cause I loved her. I didn’t want to badmouth her even though it was a s—- situation.”

Addressing the Rumors and Toxic Past

While discussing his previous relationships, Green also reflected on his troubled relationship with Vanessa Marcil, who is the mother of his son, Kassius. Green didn’t shy away from admitting that his relationship with Marcil was “toxic.” He described how after two years, he began to lose himself. “There’s not one piece of me that’s left. My relationship with everyone around me has changed,” he said. “That relationship ended up not working out.”

Green’s candid reflection on these difficult relationships highlights the personal growth he has undergone over the years. He also explained his reluctance to engage in public defense of himself, especially when it came to rumors like the one that he “groomed” Fox when they began dating. “I really, logically understood that if I defend myself this one time, it’s never gonna stop. I’m gonna have to defend myself for who knows how long,” he explained.

Green’s current relationship with fiancée Sharna Burgess was also a point of conversation. Despite the emotional turmoil of past breakups, Green seemed to find peace with Burgess, reflecting on how his health challenges and past experiences had prepared him to handle difficult moments in his personal life. As Green navigates life after his high-profile divorce from Fox and his relationship with Machine Gun Kelly, he appears to be in a much better place emotionally, ready to embrace his future with Burgess.
